Baylor University quarterback DJ Lagway is currently considered day-to-day following an ankle injury he sustained during the team's season opener against Auburn. Coach Dave Aranda provided the update on Monday, expressing hope that Lagway will be able to participate in the upcoming game against Prairie View A&M.
Lagway played through the injury during the narrow 17-16 loss to Auburn, where he completed 27 of 54 passes for a total of 333 yards, along with two touchdowns and one interception. Despite being limited in his mobility, he played a crucial role in the game, helping the Bears rally from a 17-10 deficit late in the fourth quarter.
In the final moments of the game, Lagway connected on a 28-yard pass to Gavin Freeman on a critical fourth-and-10 situation, followed by a 27-yard pass to Jadon Porter that brought the team to the Auburn 5-yard line. He capped off the drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Freeman with just nine seconds remaining.
Further updates on Lagway's condition are expected as the week progresses, with Aranda indicating that the team's assessment will continue through Tuesday and Wednesday.
