The Baylor Bears football team is experiencing considerable changes in their offensive line as they prepare for the upcoming season. With only one full-time starter returning, Kaden Sieracki at right tackle, the team faces uncertainty in this critical position.
The Bears had initially recruited Memphis transfer Yakiri Walker to take on the center role, but he is no longer with the team after his injunction was denied and has transitioned to a coaching position. This development has prompted further adjustments within the offensive line.
Offensive line coach Austin Woods has indicated that Koltin Sieracki is stepping up to fill the center position, having received significant practice reps over the summer. Woods noted, "Right now, Koltin Sieracki, he stepped up and he's been getting a lot of reps with the guys over the summer. Obviously, the decision with Yakiri went the other way.
And so he stepped up, he's done a great job of leading and communicating and playing some really high level football right now."
Koltin Sieracki, who stands at 6'4" and weighs 317 pounds, was previously the sixth lineman for Baylor last season, starting three games at both right guard and center. With Walker's departure, he has shifted his focus to center, a position he prefers. "So I actually prefer center," Sieracki stated.
"I think it's more of a natural position for me. I just feel like it's a space that I fit in, to be honest."
