The Houston Texans have officially added Chris Braswell, a former second-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, to their practice squad. This move comes as the team seeks to bolster its defensive depth ahead of the upcoming season, particularly with injuries impacting their current roster.
Braswell was selected 57th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft after a notable college career at the University of Alabama, where he recorded eight sacks in his final season. However, his time with Tampa Bay saw him appear in 34 games over two seasons, compiling 48 tackles and 2.5 sacks without earning a starting position.
The Texans are hoping to develop Braswell into the player that NFL scouts recognized two years ago.
Houston's defensive line features established players like Will Anderson Jr., Danielle Hunter, and Jadeveon Clowney, but the team's depth has been tested recently. With Dylan Horton and Ali Gaye currently on reserve due to injuries, the Texans are in need of reliable options who can step in as needed.
