The Dallas Cowboys experienced another confrontation during practice on Thursday, just two days after both they and the New Orleans Saints were fined for multiple fights at a joint practice. The latest skirmish involved tight end Jake Ferguson and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, reportedly sparked by a tackle that Ferguson found unsatisfactory.
Ferguson threw the ball at Overshown, leading to a brief altercation that was quickly diffused.
This incident follows a particularly heated joint practice on Tuesday, where the NFL reported over ten fights occurred. As a result, both the Cowboys and Saints were fined $500,000 each for their actions during that session.
ESPN's Adam Schefter noted that the NFL has been concerned about sportsmanship at joint practices, and the Cowboys-Saints event showcased a lack of it, with pushing, shoving, and punches being thrown, including a body slam.
Cowboys edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku was ejected from practice for throwing a punch, marking his second ejection during training camp. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed frustration over the fights, emphasizing the need for the team to focus on their practice work. He stated, "Nobody wants this.
