The Houston Texans have finalized their 53-man roster, which now includes undrafted rookie defensive end Sabastian Harsh. Initially, Harsh faced slim chances of making the team, but his hard work and impressive performances during the preseason led to his inclusion on the roster as the 2026 regular season approaches.
During an appearance on Texans radio, Harsh expressed his anxiety while waiting for the roster announcement. He shared that he was in contact with his parents, hoping for a call that never came. Instead, he discovered his name on the released roster and described his reaction as a moment of excitement, saying, "Oh my gosh. Like, that is pretty cool, man."
Harsh's journey to the roster was not without challenges. He missed the first preseason game due to injury, which heightened the pressure for him to excel in subsequent games. His standout performance against the Carolina Panthers in the second preseason game, where he recorded three tackles, one sack, two quarterback hits, and a pass breakup, significantly bolstered his chances of making the team.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans noted Harsh's ability to contribute both as a pass rusher and a run defender, which likely influenced the decision to include him on the roster. Despite this achievement, Harsh remains focused on the work ahead, stating, "Even still now, like, I haven't done it yet. So, still got a lot more work to do."
