The No. 5 Texas Longhorns asserted their dominance on Saturday, September 5, by defeating the Texas State Bobcats 59-7 in the season opener at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. Closing Out the Game

Texas continued its scoring barrage in the third quarter, adding three more touchdowns to pull away decisively. Cam Coleman caught a 20-yard pass from Manning, followed by Hollywood Smothers on a 13-yard reception and Raleek Brown on a 21-yard run. The Longhorns capped the third period with a 48-yard field goal by Gianni Spetic.
