Jake Burger drove in three runs with two home runs to lead the Texas Rangers to an 8-6 victory over the visiting Tampa Bay Rays at Globe Life Field. The final score gave Texas (71-73) a win against Tampa Bay (85-58) on Sunday, September 6, 2026, before a crowd of 33,285.
Burger’s first blast came in the fourth inning, a two-run shot to center field that measured 428 feet. He added another solo homer in the eighth inning, hitting his second home run of the game to left-center field at a distance of 396 feet. His power surge helped the Rangers overcome an early deficit and secure the win.
Early Rays Lead Collapses
Tampa Bay jumped out to a commanding 4-0 lead in the second inning. The scoring began when Mesa Jr. singled to left, allowing Simpson to score. Fortes then reached on a bunt single to the pitcher, bringing Mateo home. Díaz followed with a single to center, scoring Mesa Jr., and Aranda hit a sacrifice fly to center that drove in Fortes.
The Rays’ momentum continued into the fourth inning. Caminero hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Díaz, making it 5-1. However, Burger’s two-run homer cut the deficit to 5-3. The Rangers quickly tied the game later in the same inning when Foscue doubled to right field, scoring both O’Hoppe and Duran.
Rangers Take Control in Fifth
Texas took the lead for the first time in the fifth inning. Díaz singled to center to score Burger, giving the Rangers a 6-5 advantage. Duran added an insurance run later in the frame with a single to right field that scored O’Hoppe, extending the lead to 7-5.
