The Texas Tech Red Raiders did not waste any time asserting their dominance in Lubbock, jumping out to a 14-0 lead within the opening period against the visiting Abilene Christian Wildcats. The offense found immediate rhythm at Galaxy Stadium, fueled by a balanced attack that kept the home crowd of 60,229 energized from the opening snap.
Quinten Joyner provided the spark early, punching in a 14-yard run to put the Red Raiders on the board first. That momentum carried directly into the next sequence, where J'Koby Williams added another rushing score from five yards out. These two touchdowns gave Texas Tech an insurmountable advantage before the teams even reached halftime.
Field Goals Define the Middle Frames
As the game progressed into the second quarter, the Red Raiders’ defense stifled Abilene Christian’s attempts to mount a comeback. Stone Harrington extended the lead with a 23-yard field goal, making the score 17-0 at one point. The Wildcats managed to answer back just before the break, as Brandon Perez kicked a 41-yard field goal to put his team on the scoreboard at 17-3.
The third quarter became a masterclass in consistency for Texas Tech’s special teams unit. Harrington did not miss, connecting on three consecutive field goals of 28, 33, and 45 yards. Each kick stretched the margin further, pushing the total to 26-3 heading into the final period. Abilene Christian remained scoreless through three quarters, unable to generate any sustained offensive pressure against the Tech defense.
