Prosper ISD's fall break ends Tuesday, and Richland High School marks the return with a homecoming parade and community pep rally Wednesday evening.

The parade starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, on the Richland campus, according to the school's posted route map.

Floats will loop past the school's parking lots, which are marked as spectator areas, with the earliest viewing spot shown at 5:55 p.m. near the north lots off First Street and the rest at 6 p.m. along the lots on the south side of the building. The route ends near the stadium side of campus.

The school asks spectators to plan ahead, park only in the marked areas and carpool where they can. One of the campus entrances on Prairie Drive will be open to floats only.

Wednesday is also the first day of the second nine weeks across the district. Richland's homecoming football game is Friday, Oct. 16, at Prosper ISD's Children's Health Stadium, according to the school calendar.

College credit nights

The district is also holding a series of evening sessions for families on earning college credit while still in high school. Each runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the host school's auditorium:

  • Prosper High School: Wednesday, Oct. 14
  • Richland High School: Thursday, Oct. 15
  • Rock Hill High School: Monday, Oct. 19
  • Walnut Grove High School: Tuesday, Oct. 27

A separate session on earning an associate degree in high school is on the district calendar for Wednesday, Oct. 21.

The Prosper ISD Board of Trustees next meets Monday, Oct. 19. The district said earlier this month it expects the board to vote in October on a contract for Greg Bradley, who was named lone finalist for superintendent on Sept. 30; state law requires a 21-day wait after a lone finalist is named.
