Prosper ISD's Board of Trustees says its search for the district's next superintendent is on schedule, with finalist interviews planned for the week of Sept. 21 and a public "lone finalist" naming to follow, according to a Sept. 16 update posted by the district.
The board said it wants to keep the Prosper community informed at each step of the process.
Where the search stands
Prosper ISD reported that the board received more than 40 applications for the superintendent position. From that pool, trustees asked a select group of candidates to submit a five-minute video interview as an additional screening step.
Based on those submissions, the board invited several candidates to Prosper ISD for first-round interviews during the week of Sept. 7, the district said.
Finalist interviews and the lone finalist
Finalist interviews are scheduled for the week of Sept. 21. After those interviews, Prosper ISD said the board will name a single candidate — the "lone finalist" — for the job.
Under Texas law, when a school board is ready to select its top superintendent candidate, it must first name that person publicly as the lone finalist rather than immediately finalizing a hire, the district explained. That requirement is meant to give the community a chance to learn about the candidate before the board makes the appointment official.
