The Dallas area dining scene is marking the start of the fall season with several new business launches, limited-time menu collaborations, and milestone celebrations.
Summer Moon Coffee is preparing to open a new location in Prosper at 4325 W University Dr. #10. The shop occupies the former Starbucks space at the corner of Custer Road. The Texas-based chain, which was founded by a family in the Hill Country, roasts its beans in handmade brick roasters using Texas oak.
The company is known for its proprietary "moon milk" sweet cream and offers a variety of espresso drinks, matchas, lattes, chai, blended milkshakes, lemonade, and store-specific snacks. Hiring has already begun for the Prosper site, which will join eight other Dallas-Fort Worth locations and 66 stores nationwide.
In McKinney, Maman is introducing a partnership with Martha Stewart featuring pastries and seasonal dishes developed by Stewart’s test kitchen and Maman co-founder Elisa Marshall. The collaboration includes limited-edition fall items such as a Caramel Cheesecake Sugar Bun, an Apple Cider Donut Cake, and an Oatmeal Raisin Sandwich Cookie with cream cheese frosting.
The cookie will be available only through September 30, while the other Stewart-designed offerings will remain on the menu until December 2. Additional fall menu additions at Maman include a Pumpkin Pie Croissant Cube, Spiced Apple Danish, Blueberry Lavender Muffin, and a Chocolate & Brown Butter Buttercream Croissant Bar.
S&D Oyster Company on McKinney Avenue is marking its 50th anniversary in Dallas with special events from September 16 to 19. On Wednesday, September 16, the Uptown seafood restaurant will serve 50-cent Gulf oysters and offer half-price alcohol. The celebration continues on Saturday, September 19, with half-price draft beer, $19.76 commemorative merchandise, live music by the Revelers Hall Band, and reproductions of original menus.
Sugar & Sage Bakery on Lovers Lane has introduced a new savory pastry called the Cristo Amann. This limited creation combines a caramelized Kouign Amann with a Monte Cristo, filled with ham and Gruyère, griddled to order, and served with berry dipping preserve.
