Universal Kids Resort officially opened its doors in Frisco on July 1, prompting nearby commercial operators to adjust their strategies for sustained growth. Business owners in the immediate vicinity are positioning themselves to capture the influx of visitors expected from the new family entertainment destination.
The Brunch District, a restaurant located just down the road from the resort, opened approximately one month ago with the specific intent of serving this emerging tourist corridor. Manager Christian Navarro noted that while the establishment experiences fluctuations in daily volume, weekends tend to be the busiest periods. He anticipates that customer traffic will continue to rise as more people become aware of the area.
Navarro, a nine-year resident of Frisco, observed a dramatic transformation in the local landscape. He recalled a time when the region consisted primarily of open land, dirt roads, and narrow two-lane streets. He described the current status of the area as one of the fastest-growing corridors in North Texas, driven by rapid development over a short period.
Concerns regarding traffic congestion often accompany such rapid expansion. However, Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney stated that the city addressed potential congestion issues before the resort began operations. He explained that the city engineering team constructed necessary roads and infrastructure in advance of the opening.
Cheney added that city planners deliberately combined office, entertainment, and tourism projects along the Dallas North Tollway to manage traffic flow. He noted that concentrating solely on office buildings would create peak-hour bottlenecks, whereas mixing development types helps distribute vehicle movement throughout the day.
