Aidan Curry delivered a dominant performance for the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders, recording 11 strikeouts over 5.2 innings in a recent victory against Midland. The outing marked the first time the 23-year-old right-hander has reached double-digit strikeouts in a single game during the current season.
This performance capped a strong month of June for Curry, helping to erase the memory of a difficult start to his time with the team.
Curry was promoted to Frisco just before the end of May. His debut on May 26 against Arkansas was challenging. He pitched only three innings, allowing six hits, seven earned runs, and four walks, including a home run.
That start left him with a 21.00 earned run average for Frisco. However, he steadily improved his command and effectiveness over the following weeks. In his next start on June 2, he allowed six earned runs.
He reduced that total to four earned runs on June 9, two earned runs on June 16, three earned runs on June 23, and two earned runs in his final start of the month on June 30.
By the end of June, Curry had made five starts, posting a 2-1 record with a 5.14 ERA. He struck out 34 batters while walking eight across 28 innings. Opposing hitters managed a .236 batting average against him.
Notably, Curry pitched at least five innings in each of his last four starts, including two outings of at least six innings. This marks a shift in how the organization is utilizing him, as he had only made two starts of five or more innings at High-A Hub City prior to arriving in Frisco.
