Allen secured a 51-21 victory over Prosper on Friday night, marking the team's first win in District 6-6A. The contest featured two of the region's highest-scoring offenses, yet both teams were held without a touchdown during the first quarter. This marked the first time all season that Allen was scoreless in the opening frame.
The momentum shifted on the first play of the second quarter when Allen defensive end Jacobie Wilkerson sacked Prosper quarterback Tyler Albert. The pressure forced a fumble that D'Mand Smith recovered and returned four yards for a touchdown, giving Allen a 9-0 lead. Wilkerson had also recorded a sack on the preceding drive.
"Those two plays kind of just set the tone for us," Wilkerson said. "It got all of us back in the right mindset because we were falling behind starting the game."
Prosper answered on the next possession, aided by a one-handed catch from receiver Marcus McCoy that set up Albert's sneak into the end zone. The Eagles took their first lead of the game after a turnover, with Albert connecting with McCoy again from five yards out to make the score 14-9.
Allen regained the lead on just four plays when quarterback Snell found Josyah Johnson wide open for a 32-yard touchdown. Snell then threw a 70-yard pass to Johnson down the sideline before halftime, extending the lead to 23-14.
Allen extended its advantage with a 28-0 scoring run after halftime. The defense limited Prosper to only two first downs over three drives in the third quarter. On offense, Snell connected with sophomore Zach Williams for a 10-yard touchdown to open the second half, followed by a rushing score from Lyndon Spriggs on the next drive.
Snell finished the game with 267 passing yards and three touchdowns on an 80 percent completion rate.
