Avelo Airlines has identified five nonstop destinations for its inaugural service from McKinney National Airport, located in McKinney, Texas, which is approximately 11 miles east of Prosper. The carrier will operate flights to Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa in Florida.
These routes are scheduled to begin on November 11, 2026, aligning with the opening of the airport's newly constructed passenger terminal and its official designation as a commercial service facility.
The airline plans to run flights from McKinney National Airport, known by the code DTX, on a schedule covering Wednesdays through Mondays. City of McKinney Mayor Bill Cox stated that the community welcomes the new service, noting that it reflects demand for convenient air travel closer to home.
He added that the development reinforces McKinney's role in the region's future growth and its appeal to residents, businesses, and investors. Cox also expressed gratitude to Avelo Airlines for its confidence in the regional market.
Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy described the carrier as the anchor tenant and launch airline at the airport. He emphasized that the combination of low fares, reliable service, and the convenience of a smaller airport is intended to appeal to North Texas travelers.
Levy confirmed that Avelo will base two aircraft at DTX, a move he said demonstrates a long-term commitment to the area. He projected that this investment would generate more than 100 new jobs and noted that McKinney is a community on the rise.
The airport will serve as one of five national crew bases for Avelo Airlines. The McKinney base is expected to create career opportunities for locals, including positions for pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, baggage handlers, and gate agents. These roles are anticipated to provide economic benefits as employees and contractors live and spend money in the local community.
