Austin Westlake and Prosper met at Prosper ISD Children’s Health Stadium for a contest between two teams that entered the game with perfect 2-0 records.
The Chaparrals, ranked No. 23 in the High School On SI Texas Top 25, traveled to the northern part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex to face the Eagles, who were unranked but positioned to potentially enter the next week’s poll with a victory.
Westlake arrived at the game following two consecutive home wins. In their season opener on Aug. 28, the team defeated Inglewood from California by a score of 33-26. The following week, they secured a 35-10 victory over Euless Trinity.
During that second game, quarterback Patton Jones completed 13 of 17 passes for 165 yards and three touchdowns. Receiver Rhett Jenkins caught two of those scoring passes, while the Westlake defense limited Trinity to 111 total yards.
Prosper has demonstrated strong offensive production in its first two contests, accumulating 106 points. The Eagles opened the season with a 56-point performance against Rockwall. In their most recent game, they defeated North Forney 50-43.
