Avelo Airlines has announced it will launch the first scheduled commercial passenger service at McKinney National Airport, with operations beginning in November 2026. The low-cost carrier will serve as the anchor tenant for the facility, which has historically focused on general, business, and private aviation.
The airport, located in Collin County and approximately 11 miles east of Prosper, will utilize the IATA code DTX for its commercial operations.
Initial service will include five nonstop routes. Flights to Fort Myers, Florida, will commence on November 11, 2026. One day later, on November 12, Avelo will begin service to Las Vegas and Orlando.
Routes to Fort Lauderdale and Tampa are scheduled to start on November 19. The airline plans to operate flights to Las Vegas four times weekly, while Orlando and Fort Lauderdale will each receive five weekly flights. Tampa will have four weekly departures, and Fort Myers will initially be served twice a week.
To support this new base, Avelo intends to station two Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft, each configured with 184 seats. The airline projects that its initial investment will generate more than 100 local jobs, including positions for pilots, flight attendants, aircraft technicians, and airport staff.
Andrew Levy, founder and CEO of Avelo, described McKinney as a key step in the company’s expansion within Texas, highlighting the airline’s focus on low fares and on-time performance.
