Graduates from Prosper recalled a chaotic senior celebration that left multiple classmates hospitalized and resulted in felony drug charges for two students. The incident occurred during the district’s Graduation Celebration, a lock-in event open to seniors from all three high schools in the area.

Nick Wall, Carter Gerhardt, and Adam Shin described the night as disorienting and alarming. Wall noted that attendees began collapsing or becoming violently ill after ingesting THC-infused gummies. "It was like they were just dropping like flies," Wall said.

Gerhardt recalled seeing many students fall without understanding why at first. Shin stated he was offered the edibles but declined because his mother had instructed him not to use drugs.

Prosper police confirmed that at least eight students were hospitalized with symptoms consistent with a drug overdose. Arrest warrants for 17-year-old Kyle Muchineuta of Walnut Grove High School and 18-year-old Cesar Omana of Rock Hill High School allege they manufactured and delivered a controlled substance. Investigators believe the pair distributed the gummies at the event.

According to arrest records, Omana allegedly used money collected from other students to buy a package of THC-infused gummies from A&A Smoke Shop in Plano. The shop’s owner told CBS News Texas that neither police nor investigators have contacted him or requested surveillance footage regarding the incident.

Jeremy Rosenthal, attorney for Omana, issued a statement defending his client on Friday. "Nobody feels worse about people getting sick than we do," Rosenthal said. He questioned how purchasing an item in packaging indicating it is safe constitutes a crime worthy of publicly destroying the life of an 18-year-old and labeling him a drug dealer.

As of Friday, Prosper police declined to comment on whether they have contacted A&A Smoke Shop, citing the ongoing investigation. Toxicology reports for the hospitalized students are expected as early as next week.
