The Dallas Cowboys have officially signed Von Miller, a move that has been anticipated for some time. The DeSoto, Texas native confirmed that discussions with the team began before training camp started last month. Miller, entering his 15th NFL season, aims to enhance his team's defensive capabilities while adding to his impressive career total of 138.5 sacks, the highest among active players.

Miller is expected to primarily play as a left outside linebacker, a position he has occupied for most of the past three seasons. His arrival complicates matters for current roster hopefuls at the edge rusher position, particularly for players like Rashan Gary, who was acquired in a trade earlier this year and has also played primarily on the left side.

First-round rookie Malachi Lawrence has been focusing on the left outside linebacker role, spending most of his snaps in that position during the preseason opener. This suggests that the Cowboys are likely to solidify their lineup with Miller, Gary, and Lawrence as the primary players at left outside linebacker.

On the right side, second-year player Donovan Ezeiruaku is expected to start, with James Houston serving as a key rotational player. This setup leaves Sam Williams and Marist Liufau in a precarious position as they compete for a spot on the 53-man roster, both auditioning for the same right outside linebacker role.

Liufau may have trade value, which could impact his chances of remaining with the team.

Additionally, the Cowboys have other players like Tyrus Wheat, Isaiah Land, and Adedayo Odeleye in consideration for roster spots, as they evaluate talent during the remaining training camp practices. While it is likely that Miller's signing will lead to immediate changes in the roster, the full extent of its impact on the edge rusher group remains to be seen.
