Trevon Diggs, a two-time Pro Bowl cornerback previously with the Dallas Cowboys, has signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks. The announcement was made by ESPN's Adam Schefter on social media, confirming that Diggs will join the reigning Super Bowl champions.
This marks the second cornerback signing for the Seahawks this week, following their acquisition of former first-round pick Terrion Arnold, who is currently facing serious legal issues related to kidnapping and robbery charges in Florida. NFL insider Jordan Schultz also reported on Diggs’ signing, highlighting his impressive career stats, which include 20 interceptions and 63 passes defended.
Diggs, who is 27 years old, experienced a decline in his performance after signing a lucrative five-year, $97 million extension with the Cowboys in July 2023. Over the subsequent three seasons, he participated in only 22 out of a possible 51 regular-season games.
His time with the Cowboys ended after he was waived following a series of incidents, including an unusual at-home accident where he claimed a television fell on his head.
The Cowboys' decision to release Diggs was further influenced by his request to remain in the Washington, D.C. area with family after a game against the Washington Commanders on Christmas Day, which the team denied. Following his release, Diggs was picked up by the Green Bay Packers on December 31, just a day after being waived by Dallas.
