Denton County commissioners are set to formally accept five 2026 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties when they meet Tuesday morning.
The awards, listed on the Commissioners Court agenda for Oct. 27, recognize five county programs, according to the award certificates attached to the item:
- Fire Marshal and Fire Rescue: "From Fragmentation to Integration: Denton County's Regional Fire and EMS Response Model"
- Emergency Management: the Office of Emergency Management's training and exercise program
- Tax Office: "ROAR (Recruitment, Onboarding, and Retention)"
- County Communications: "Denton County Conversations"
- Budget Office: a modernization of budget control in preparation for a new enterprise resource planning system
The certificates name only the programs. The agenda item does not include write-ups describing how each program works or what it has changed.
Also on Tuesday's agenda
The court is also scheduled to take up a new order for the county's Series 2026 tax notes. The item would rescind and repeal the order commissioners adopted on Oct. 20 and replace it with an order setting parameters for selling and issuing the notes, with some decisions delegated to a county official. A redlined copy of the changed pages is attached to the agenda.
Other items include a $877,902 purchase of computers and related equipment from Dell for the county's 2027 hardware refresh, and an expansion of the county's Laserfiche document software subscription for $153,560.95.
Commissioners meet at 9 a.m. in the third-floor courtroom of the Administrative Courthouse, 1 Courthouse Drive in Denton. The western part of Prosper lies in Denton County.
