A proposed data center development in Prosper has generated opposition from residents in the town and neighboring communities. The project, identified as Project Tomahawk, is planned for a site of approximately 37 acres near the intersection of FM 1385 and Parvin Road. White Rose Partners, a Dallas-based developer, is leading the initiative.
While the property is located within Prosper, residents in Aubrey and other nearby areas have expressed concern that the facility's effects could extend beyond the town's boundaries.
Local advocates, including Prosper residents Ellie Blair and Aileen Blachowski, have asked town leaders to deny the zoning request. Blachowski stated that the development is not suitable for residential backyards and urged officials to stop the project from moving forward. Blair questioned how nearby families would be able to enjoy outdoor spaces if the facility is built adjacent to their neighborhoods.
Residents have raised specific issues regarding potential noise levels, water consumption, electricity demand, and the proximity of the site to existing and planned housing.
Aubrey resident Rick Abraham also voiced concerns about noise traveling to his community. He asked what measures would be taken to prevent sound from reaching nearby areas. Although the City of Aubrey lacks the authority to approve or deny the project because the land is in Prosper, Mayor Chris Rich indicated the city intends to stay engaged.
Rich posted on social media requesting that Prosper keep Aubrey informed as the approval process advances. Aubrey officials stated they will communicate with Prosper regarding potential regional impacts.
White Rose Partners responded by stating the design aims to minimize effects on surrounding properties. The company noted that the facility would occupy less than 20% of the total acreage, with the remainder featuring landscaped buffers, mature trees, and a public nature trail.
